Need some help! Sizes of A-head stems? and Handlebars ?

Hi Guys,

Ive just bought a Quill Stem Adapter - (converter) for my Orange C16R. The converter fits nicely in the headset; and I have a shim for fitting the A-head stem to the quill converter. But my handle-bars are way-too-small in diameter, even with a shim they would be way too small In diameter! So I have a few questions about the sizes of A-head stems. : Q, do ahead stems come in different sizes?? Q, can I get a Ahead stem to take a small diameter handle bar? The bars ore Orange Bike Originals from the early 1990's. Should I look for an oversized Handle bar to fit the Ahead stem; which I think is a 31.8? Need some help and advise please.

Your old Orange bars have a 25.4mm clamp area diameter. I presume the stem you have is for OS bars which are 31.8mm.
Either you need to buy some 31.8 bars or get s stem for 25.4 bars.
Both are readily available on ebay.

Just one question.....why are you changing from a quill stem?

Changed the use of the bike to a 26in wheel day touring bike; and the wife uses it sometimes - so, I need a 50/60mm, stem..

What about these >> Yellow or Orange to go with a Racing Green Coloured C16R?
