Right not really sure what im after but the important bits are thus:

price between £1000 and £1500
700c
Rack + mud guard mounts
Clearance for cyclocross tyres
Probably non disk so I could use it for cyclocross racing (though this isnt overly important)

I was thinking of something like the genesis croix de fer, but am tempted by one of the Salsa bikes.

All suggestions welcome as I really have no Idea what im after.

It will mainly be used for year round commuting with a small amount of tow paths etc The option of stripping down as fitting skinny tyres would also be nice, but again not overly important.

Thank you all in advance

Stephen

You could probably put a singular peregrine together too

One steel one alu :)

Discs were recently approved for UCI cyclocross, BTW.
What are you going to use it for (mainly)? Touring commuting, cyclocross?

The Salsa Vaya, the Chilli con Crosso and the Singulars have some very nice touches. Or one of those LeMonds from a few years back, with the disc mounts?

Kona Sutra/ Jake(s) are not bad, but Kona's bikes haven't inspired me for ages, TBH. Some of the smaller companies seem to be producing more interesting bikes.

It will mainly be for commuting, but have always liked the idea of getting into a bit of cyclocross (particularly trying the 3 peaks).

I will also be doing some limited touring. The main thing is I tend to keep bikes for a long time, and in the future hope to do some long distance touring, so want it to be suitable for this.
