Name the Frame Game II

Geometry and seat post lookish 'Wedg'ish', but the cable guides might say otherwise. Having said that, RM custom builds do seem to have braze ons all over the shop...

What ever it was - I like the look of it...

Seems 'was' is the right way to describe it
The toptube has a bit of a crack in it ,its next to the front guides.

Though the boss is a welder,he reckons once welded it will be fine

Does it have a frame number ?

Assuming the RM idea.

Very early only the team blizzard looked like that style frame (very similar) but cabling was all traditional downtube.

Next Blizzard again but wrong routing, only the new fandangled wedge would use top routing though looks wrong and not wedgey enough.

Avalanche, well that was last years blizzard frame re-branded :?

Also they where putting two bottle setups on the frames. (according to the avalanche brodie shootout iirc)

By the time we are in 1990 things had modernised, wishbone stays top tube routing..

What's odd is I have seen that triple layout of cabling before, just not sure where.

Must be a reasonable frame,it seems to be an LX groupset[the black stuff] with XT thumbies and a 737 rear mech with manitou forks[im looking forward to getting those up and running]

I thought at first it was a Kona, given the extended seat tube, but this seems much longer than the normal, and of course those damn cable guides

Defos no Kona.

yeh- Rocky Mountain or a custom Canadian for sure I reckon.

As far as I know Rocky Mountains were he only producer of stupidly long headtubes like that.

Putting a year to it would be the hard thing, it looks like the 88/89 era but 89 they noramlly had U-brakes (brake & front  ) , but then this could be a blizzard/avalance in a transition to 1990 frames or custom or who knows with rocky mountain at the time.

Here's a Wedge frame
wedgecomnx1.jpg
and is has the same u-brake, and front mech roller as in the catalouges.

Though forks and plenty of other stuff is not original.

This is an 88 Avalanche.
It´s cable routing on the downtube is arranged in a triangle, so I see a similar approach in design by arranging a triplet on the top tube.

I´d say, it is (was) an Avalanche frame. But maybe used just as a basis and custom changed to canti bosses and a different cable routing.

Any chance for a frame number here?

I'd say it's a Rocky too. probably an '89 as it's the only catalogue I can't look through for it :D

That combo of triple cable guides and massively over long seat tube looks sooo familiar
