Mystery Man 1982!

Old Ned

Old School Grand Master
Just been reading a June 1982 copy of 'Cycling' and came across an article about a series of races held at Bletchingdon near Oxford. The writer of the article is the guy on the right of the photo that I've scanned, wearing the Oxonian CC jersey and a cheesy grin. He's now a 'celebrity', seen on the telly quite often - anyone recognise him?

PS - he's not a 'show-biz' celebrity, more an 'academical' type!

PPS - his bike looks quite tasty as well - an Alan?

Nick Crane, long time adventure cyclist often with his brother Richard, Nick used to edit the International Cycling guide*; I have an article by him entitled,"In The Grasp Of A Greek Gremlin"(1981). I have others by him, but that's the earliest.

Just finished an excellent book by Nick Crane:"Clear Waters Rising"about his long walk from the far west to the far east of Europe.

Roadking.

*pub, Tantivy Press.

Yep, you're both correct.

You both share in today's Star Prize - as many free re-runs of 'Coast' as you can manage on Dave and Yesterday channels!

If Nick Crane went to the centre of the earth, he'd really do it. Using just a cut down plastic spoon to dig...........
