My Rocky Mountain Altitude

needs a revitalization. but as i do not live in a very MTB-ish area, but want to keep the nice frame and my pace RC30 i thought i would build hybrid-messenger-racer (single speed) of it. my questions now:

1. are there any good 26" rims that are not as thick as mtb-rims but rather like cyclo-cross ones? i would like to use cyclo-cross-like tires on it.

2. can i use the magura hs-22 on mountain bike rims only or also on the above mentioned thinner wheels?

would be happy to hear some recommendations, even if you do not agree with my ideas.

cheers

Most light mtb rims are around 22mm (X517, etc) wide, compared with about 20mm for a typical road/cross rim (e.g. Open Pro), so I'd say just build with whatever common light XC rims you can find. Cross-ish tyres like the Conti Cross Country work fine on that style of rim, and you can use 1" road tyres (Conti GP, Hutchinson Top Slick, etc) for a bit more speed on the asphalt.

The Maguras will be fine.
