My lads first MTB - problem cranks

hi folks, i hope i can pick someones brains on here.

today i picked up my eldest sons first mtb, a cheap ebay find with 20" wheels. it has been modified quite a bit and unfortuantly the cranks are 175mm, way to big. it has a standard square tapered BB and was wondering what are the shortest cranks you can get....ebay has proved fruitless, guess kids bike are too cheap to have a good parts for sale list. would bmx BB and cranks / chainwheel fit?

looking for single cog about 28-32 tooth.

any ideas?

152mm rings a bell.

That might be for larger 24inch wheeled bikes with triple chainsets though.

Give Chris bell at www.highpath.net a call, he custom cuts cranks and shortens them. Just send him yours and he'll cut em down as small as you want.

Spa Cycles do junior racer chainsets made by Stronglight.

Chris Bell just modded a set for me for the tandem - he turned them round very fast.

Old early 90's Shimano works best.

suntour sr do a simple range of short (152) cranks, and they are usually about £20, my lbs ordered up a set for my son, these....
