My 1993 Konas

Thought i'd share my Konas with you's from the 1993 range,which for me was the year Kona pulled there finger out and started building nice bikes again. The Kilauea was a bike i'd been trying to add to the collection for a while and finally i managed to get a 19" frame. I pinched the forks off my old 93 Lavadome which had died years ago and started from there. I had the stem and a nos impact headset but no bars (cheers for helping out Raiden with those) I've added m735 XT front and rear mechs,XT crank,XT thumbies,nos XT low profile cantis,XTR levers and a XTR seatpost and lovely Flite saddle. Final bits are the 16 spoke shimano wheels and some nos smoke and dart tyres,just needs cabling up and jobs a good un
The Lavadome i saved from wasting away. When i got it i stripped it and gave it a good clean,i had a Deore DX groupset lying around. So saying my old lavadome was dead and this was taking over i thought i'd use the groupset to give it a upgrade from the exage mountain it had and i'm over the moon with the way it's turned out. Just need that pesky 93 Explosif and i'll try to stop collecting Konas

Nice bikes. I've got one of them thar Kilaueas as well. Was until very recently that colour but was really beat up so had to respray it as there is some nice patina and then theres straight out knackered lol

I have a '92 Explosif and a '92 Cinder Cone in need of some TLC. You have inspired me to make more of an effort.

Once you've found the Explosif may I recommend getting that new camera out of the box

I've got a new htc 9 android phone with a 20 mill camera but cannot seem to make the photos small enough for here,must be doing something wrong
I'll get it sorted mate coz the Cindercone build starts properly soon,its gonna be a duel build with my favourite Kona of the fleet which is needing an overhaul

Nice looking job you've done with that Kilauea haggis i might do something like that with my spare Kilauea frame off the donor bike.

Can you notice much of a difference between the Kilauea and Lava Dome?
