My 1987 Raleight Triathlon...

Had this from new in 87 and just got it out of storage today. It had a layer of dust on it to make your eyes water and two flat tyres. Quick blast off and reinflation and it rode the same as when I put it in storage (about 10 years ago iirc).

I'm having trouble sourcing new bar tape though. Want period correct stuff so the slightly padded vinyl, leather effect stuff raleigh used to use around this time in white. If anyone can suggest a brand I'd be very grateful.

Lovely Triathlon there. I spy the original bottles? You've done well to have not lost those over the years. I have the Quadra mk1 (I'm the 2nd owner and have had it 30yrs) and still have the bottles and pump, but some how the pump value is missing and probably in the garage somewhere.

That’s right, your Quadra was the spiritual successor. Has futuristic aero section rims iirc? Great bikes.

Indeed, as a lad I used to look at the Raleigh brochure at the Quadra and others. The aero grey rims are made by Weimann I recall.

Lovely frame geometry and mudguard clearance.
Became my commuter ride for a long time .
