Muddy Fox Courier Comp

Guys, i think it's earlier than that.I had one in 1990 and it was fluro green
and it had rapid fire shifters.

hey guys,

thats 1989 model. came with an exage/mountain lx 7speed groupset. did you it get from kennet competion cycles in inches yard!??

heathy, the green courier you had was the first bike i saw at school with underbar shifters! i was so jeolous of kid! 1990.

i must confess, i love muddy fox (& ridgeback) and there just aint enough of on here. if i had the time id look into doing fansite.

i got a 1989 seeker awhile ago of ebay, all in original condition! it rides really well, im must post a pic. asap!

i was thinking of sorting out a retro ride in the new year, around newbury if anybodys up for it??

Courier Comp - smooth gear change?

I'm selling my husband's green Courier Comp on eBay, bought for £325 six months before I met him in 1992 and not ridden for the past 15 years! (He does know I'm doing this, honest.)

Anyway, interested people keep emailing to ask me questions about it that I can't answer (cos I'm only a girl). It has Shimano Exage 400 LX gears (21 speed), and I'm asked if these are SIS, if they click when they change or change smoothly. Does anyone know?

The listing is on UK eBay, Item number: 330203785559, if anyone wants to see a photo. Hoping for a quick reply as the auction ends tomorrow night!

ouch!

My first Bike, a raleigh massif was a twenty one incher! It also had the cable, in outer, routed along the top of the top tube! a few very painful john thomas/top tube collisions soon paved the way for a smaller frame!

There's an '89 Courier Comp in my mates back yard in Oxford. I've recently stripped the Mountain LX mechs. off it. Same paint, kind of black with a red crackle effect.

Unfortunately the frame has been almost bent double and there's not much left of any use.

Seems to be the fate of many older bikes in Oxford, they get locked up, some w@@ker kicks the wheel in and then they get left.
You can watch them slowly disappearing bit by bit over a few months until all that is left is the frame and fork, which by this time looks like it's been run over by a truck!

I've spotted a few nice older bikes go that way, there's no justice.

hey there. SIS is shimano's index system, so yes they do click into each gear when you change gear:)

muddy fox first sold bikes in the mid eighties, so yours is retro, but not as desirable as an older model. if it is in good nick, then that is good enough for most people who would want it, most bikes that old are often pretty nakered!

hope this helps :)
