Muddy Fox Courier Comp

Retro Newbie
Hi all. I just dug out my old Muddy Fox Courier Comp. I bought it from new when I was a kid. I can't remember exactly when that was but I think it must have been about 20 years ago. Anybody got any ideas when they originally came out? I can't find any info about them on the interweb. My local should Banjo's in Newbury told me I should post it on here to see what people think of it.

That look slike an 89/ 90 (whichever way you see things) to me.

Was the year after the purple and white courier and two years after the all white courier (original ad in mag scans).

Does it have a mottled dark red paint job, like marble/ cracked lava kind of effect?

Yes that's exactly what the paint job is like. Though a little scratched now. Sounds like about the right year too. Thanks.

I'd echoe that , about 1990. Very cool, and very big, as everyones early bikes were my Fist mudy fox was a 20" :!: I now ride a 16". No such thing as too big back then! If you could reach the bars, it was about right!
Welcome aboard

You're right though too. Not enough stuff on 'Foxes on the web, and I don't think we've covered them in much detail here. Do we have any fan sites anyone know of?? Or links to coverage here on retrobike??
Info appreciated.

It is a massive frame. Not sure how I managed to ride that when I was 16 without damaging my manhood everytime I stopped.
Just got it back from the shop and it runs nicely again now. Just needed new headset bearings. Everything else is pretty much original other than the saddle. Have got the original saddle with the metal studs somewhere though.
That paintwork is as you say dark red with cracking effect.
