MTB shoes - Shimano MT 42

Looking to replace my much loved Cannondale SPD shoes.

Are these any good?

well, as I maybe ditching the car for a while, I need something that looks reasonably work smart.

They get good reviews all the time. Shimano shoes can be a little on the tight side so would advise trying before you buy.

ive got a set.... really nice shoes... but as above they are quite tight !!!
i bought an 8 and i think i need a 9... so im going to sell them. dont surpose you are after a size 8 ?

Pop over the hill to Grafham Cycles to try a few on for size then buy them cheaper online. However, I bought some disco slippers from there and they gave me a nice discount without even asking for one. I needed to try some road SPD-SL shoes on for size as they are more size critical than MTB SPD shoes. Had a thought, they mostly stock Specialized shoes and had only the MP66 DX shoes on display from Shimano

I've got a pair of Shimano SPD boots, not those though. I find them somewhat irksome to walk as the cleat isn't as recessed as it could be. I leave a pair of boots in the office and stick them on hwen I get in, I couldn't do the SPDs all day long, they'd drive me potty.

You know, every ones feet are different, and I have always found it best to actually try on various shoes to make sure they fit My feet. I happen to have a narrow foot, so a lot of manufacturers' shoes are too wide for me. I also like to wear them for awhile around the store just to make sure they are really comfortable.

I too have trouble getting shoes to fit. I have wide feet and a high instep. Many cycle shoes do not fit well so I also have to try them on before buying. Tried some Specialized Elite road shoes - the ones with the rachet mechanism. The width was fine but I could not do the rachet up due to my high instep. I always go for velcro fixings as they are more flexible and help get a better fit.
