I've found the original review of paul smiths bike - its in the March 1993 issue of the short-live but excellent Mountain bike monthly mag. Its a very in depth article about 6 pages long!
Only problem is the scanner doesnt seem to be working. I'll try taking some photos instead but not sre how well that will work out...
