Arrived yesterday, and built up last night and this morning - about to take it on it's first ride

Only had to buy grips and stem for the build......

Half built up - Pace forks, Mavic wheels, stem, seat and bars.

Nearly done - gears and brakes added + furry helper

Finished and ready to ride!

My first burly hardtail bike (all the bits came off my S-Works Stumpjumper FSR - never gets ridden, so fancied a change.....frame might be for sale depending on how this bike feels!)

Whats it weigh built up? Certainly looks like it could flatten a house!

Weight-wise......done the heft test, and probably sub 30lbs, but not by much!
I'll try and dig out the luggage scales and get a proper weight.

The garden's lovely not properly mine unfortunately - I lodge here with the owner who is a mate. Get my own shed and workshop though - which is nice! Last weekend we put up some double sheets on a line, a projector and a small PA, and watched movies outdoors - all running from the stored power off the solar panels you can see in the background. Also have a wind turbine, and water panels on the roof - all very self sufficient.

Surprisingly good climber - must be the short rear end.

Took it out for a proper 20 mile blast on some local singletrack - proper twisty, steep and rooty stuff. Handled everything I threw at it with aplomb, and left me with a massive on my face afterwards!

Lovely, lovely bike though all bikes are lovely, but you know what I mean!

So - now in it's winter SS plumage

Added the XTR SS cranks from my Global (that now had Middlburns), some winter tyres, an 18t Shimano DX cog, and a cheapie SS chain - rustfree....allegedly!



Had a fun couple of hours up on Haldon in the sludge today - proper slippy it was!

Yeah - I forgot I'd changed the forks. Got the WBs for a song on ebay - love the old skool CNC'd look of them. Very stiff, light and they strip down for servicing with just a 5mm allen key.

Love it proper burly, fun, play bike.
