The M/C San Andreas for me is an iconic 90's bike.

Full suspension, beefy frames - I have always thought they looked trick.

Never ridden one but am interested to hear peoples/owners thoughts.

I would like to give one a bash but am unsure how they size up :?

off to work now, will have to pop a reply on here later.
will give me something to think about while at the horrible place!

I've always wanted one, problem is I wouldn't settle for anything less than an early one with suspenders and pro-stop's..... and I don't fancy my chances of finding one!

it is a real mans ride....its mr t with wheels....they are the best if you ask me...mines hanging on the bedroom wall at the mo unbuilt...umming and erring as to keep her or not//

I've had 3 over the years a 93 a 95 and a 98.
93 and 95 are pretty much same frame, tubular seat tower, dog leg front derailuer post and elastomer shock 3 inch travel.
98 had mono seat tower and straight front derailuer post and had a risse air shock 4 inch travel.
All really nice but I prefer the earlier first gen frames (up to 95)
They look pretty heavy but are quite light, so they build up as quite a light trail bike yet - are or were stong enough to use as DH bikes bitd.
They are hand made in the states with plenty of beefy fish scale welds.
They are high pivot, so the rear tightens up under pedaling in bigger rings but gets pretty bouncy when in the granny. The high pivot also means it's pretty good at big hits (again a selling point for dh/heavy riding)
The early frames came in one size with adjustable seat tower to make it like a medium and large, around 99 00 they brought in a smaller mono seat tower for smaller riders.
My 95 has a 59cm top tube when the seat tower is in the large size.
I'm building up my 95 with suspenders and pro stop brakes, will be posting up a build thread in the next few weeks so stay tuned mc fans
As per any retro ride it is old technology so you have to keep that in mind if your using one as a daily rider, a fact most retrobikers are aware of.

Overall they are great fun bikes, fun to ride and well built. over built to be honest but hey.

heres what i wake up to in the mornings...its hanging just above the tv...it was the gfs idea too...the tie wraps are holding the ringle headset in so the bits dont fall on the floor

Brilliant bikes, I wish I still had my last one :(

Built it with full xtr, maverick duc forks and a fifth element rear air shock and it weighed about 24lbs which is brill for 6" front and rear travel.

Only criticism is they are quite tall bikes (in this setup) but was awesome on the trail. It absolutely devoured coed y brenin.

I would agree they look like DH big hitters but build into a very good light XC bikes. With bent up swept bars and an air fox rear shock and decent fox/marzocchi or rock shox up front they turn quick and climb well, yes ride is high up and out of reach for the tree routes. Very quick bike on the DH sections, only draw back is they are very noisy at the rear and for me I get a bit over confident on them, maybe ride faster than my abilities. Today still a great XC bike, the DH new boys would take it apart one on one but wouldn’t look as good as the Andreas does in 20 years.
