I recently acquired a minty mint 92 San Andreas complete with suspenders, prostop disks, pulstar hubs and XC Pro. The rear After shock is fine (but I have a modern Cane Creek on it ATM) but the elastomers in the fork turned to a toxic blue green goo. (And I mean toxic its killed the grass and it hasn't grown back in 2 months!!!!) Now I need something to make the front end springy again. Chances are slim of finding non mutated elastomers so perhaps steel springs are in order but the trouble is the upper tubes are like inch and 3/8 inside diameter. Anyone know of anything of the shelf that can be substituted? Or how to calculate a spring rate that would work for me at about 85kg (yes I know I'm a fat old bastard but I can still ride)?
