More help. Saddle rail Q

Was there another standard size for saddle rails in the past? I have an older post and a modern saddle and theres about a rail of a difference. May try to spread them but considering its my knackers down there I'm not sure :?

That's an interesting question in response to which I have absolutely no idea...........just assumed all saddles had same width atween rails!.

But yes, concern vis-a-vis baws and continued working order of I can empathise with.

yes , different standards existed .

Got it in anyway chris, it was more half a rail and a wee bit awkward.
