Morati cranks are a funny set. Hugely expensive, stupid light, a bit flexy for hardcore racers, and did have some failures back in the day.
But if you put a steroid sucking, money chucking late 90's pro racer on em, sure they will break some. But will break carbon too.
If they do develope a crack, they can be readily repaired. You can't say that about alum or carbon.
As a work of handcrafted art, they are worth the money alone. The highest amount paid I have seen is $1800. Half that is a bargain. IMO they are the best crankset ever produced in the history of biking for lightweight, vibration damping, and performance.
