Mongoose Iboc Ti by Merlin!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Interesting, looks a great original build too.

Did these not have a steel backend? One of my pals had a ti mongoose like this bitd and it definitely had a steel rear. Could be a different model in this ad though but the painted rear triangle and mudguard eyelets point towards steel...

You're right John, this is the steel and ti frame. The steel starts at the wishbone and ends about three inches into the chainstays so a 'full ti polish' may be a little hard. I do remember a magazine article about these and thier failure rate back in the day!

Auction still on.

Wasn't aware they were renowned for failing. To be fair the one my friend had was well abused, often deliberately and as far as I recall survived intact well into the late 90s.

Where does the Ti end? In the areas on the rear triangle where paint has flaked off there seems to be ti underneath?

Is it just the seatstays and dropouts? Seems like more effort/ cost than its worth?!
