Slow progress but a few parts looking better, the very rusty wheels have been stripped and polished ready for rebuilding, very nice Gipiemme sprint hubs and Mavic sprint rims.

A reminder of the sad 'before' picture!

Luckily the freewheel ( also a rust-lump ) came away without a struggle, and turned out to be a sweet Regina ORO 13-25 so nice ratios, rust being removed by vinegar and internals oiled.

Some more work in progress, front wheel dismantled, hub stripped and cleaned, bearings re-greased, now super smooth.
Rims are hard work, the front was worse than the rear with pitting that is hard to polish out.

First build....Waiting for tubs to dry so fitted some clinchers and tried a ride...

So, the project is finally complete, I've added a few provisional pics showing the completely rebuilt wheels and new tubs, and the Regal saddle to replace the white faux-retro temporary one.

Looking good. How did you get the rust off those skewers?

Bacofoil and vinegar, then fine steel wool, buffed on a polisher wheel then waxed, hard work tho!
