I built these forks at the end of last summer. Since then I have only used them about 3 times, so I am offering them up for sale to someone who will use them.
These are no ordinary Manitou 1's. They are 1 lowers modified to fit Manitou 4 stanchions. Not only that but they have Englund Total Air cartridges fitted giving 65mm of travel. So you get modern performance with classic looks!
As with all my forks I build, they have new seals fitted and have been overhauled ready to use.
Check the pics...
As fitted to my Fisher...

Close up of the stanchions, you can just see the max travel line...

Compared to a standard set, quite a bit longer...

I've got a few steerer options,
Manitou 1 crown, 1 1/8 172mm with 30mm thread
Manitou 4 crown, 1 1/8"" 143mm with 48mm thread
Manitou 3 crown, 1 1/4" 147mm with 34mm thread
Manitou 3 crown, 1 1/4" 128mm with 12mm thread
Manitou 1 crown, 1 1/4" with aluminium threadless any length you want
Manitou 2 crown, 1 1/8" with 240mm threadless
Or you can have them crownless ready to bolt into your existing one.

£100 with any crown, £85 without. A bargain for a unique set of forks. There was a set of 4's with air carts fitted on ebay that went for about $300 last year!
Price includes postage.

No interest in these then?
The other standard rebuilt set are available too at £59 with a crown or £49 without. They have new elastomers fitted and are ready to ride.

Queries

I would be interested in understanding how the conversion works - do Total Englund carts slot straight into M4 legs but not M1s then?

In the pic it shows the travel you get with the carts/M4 combo (obviously longer than M1s next to it) and there seems to be plenty of non-travel stanchion left - would it be possible (for geometry reasons) to shorten the M4 stanchions in any way (assuming it is just the carts that lengthen them) to the original M1 length and still retain extended/better quality travel?

Thanks.

Nice, would you be open to an offer for both?

I only really want to sell one or the other, as I need a set to stay on the bike. But in saying that, if you did want both then I am sure we can do a deal.

The carts were for Manitou 4's, they replace the elastomer stack and screw into where the adjusters are on top of the legs, whereas a M1 has the elastomers underneath the stanchions and no thread on the upper part.
On full travel the crown sits 10mm away from the tyre, originally it did hit it so I installed 15mm spacers to lift the stanchions up a bit. It only looks like there is loads of stanchion showing because a M1 has short legs compared to the later models. So for 65mm of travel, they are as short as they possibly can be and are the same length as a standard set of M4's.

Interesting, thanks for that - in terms of stanchion tubing 'hidden' within or below the top of the outer legs, is there more tubing (not elastomer or cartridge) in the M1 or the M4 set up - or is that the same too?
