for those unfamiliar, M5 is a dutch company specializing in carbon monocoque recumbents. they also make some highly regarded 'upright' bike parts...best known for hubs & ridiculously trick space-frame brakes (for which they won some european design award):

their carbon clincher rims are unique in that there is an extruded aluminum u-channel buried in the carbon braking surface/nipple bed (but not an alloy rim with a carbon fairing, like the mavic cosmics). this extrusion allows for higher spoke tension, better brake heat dissipation, and much more durable rim sidewalls (in the event of a flat).

these wheels are brand new (never had a tire on 'em), built by the masters at wheelbuilder.com. 50mm depth and 28h bladed spoking makes them uber stiff and super aero. weight is pretty much on par with any other 50mm 28h clincher wheel, none of which have the aluminum reinforcement.

real-world pricing (never mind the MSRP) on the pieces alone is ~US$1600-1700 ($4 spokes add up!), not including the build labor. yours for a very fair US$1200 + shipping.
