Modern take on old components

I've got a frame on the way (yes it's a white kona) and I'm starting to dream of components to dress it in. I'm a bit out of touch with what is available in the shops these days as I've not read a bike mag in about 15 years. So, I went window shopping at the usual big online retailers and aside from everything only being available in silver or black, I noticed that a few of the old school items are still available in a modern form. My old personal faveourite combo of a USE seatpost and a Flite Titanium can be purchased new today:

SSO what I want to know is, how do these compare to their older brethren?

I'll probably attract a few sneers for sticking this stuff on a period frame but that's my choice.

if its going to be a rider then i see no problem in using new modern kit on it
(i mean why waste a nos m900 crank set on a commuter??)
as for the saddle and seat post they in all honestly about the same as you remember

Oh it will absolutely be a rider. A good looking one, but a rider none the less. I'll be giving it the singlespeed treatment and chucking it around the local trail centres at every given opportunity.

re:

it's a bit hard, on one hand u want to ride your stuff, and on the other side u want it to stay in good shape. And well if u crash something, u crashed it for ever...
