modern road q

as the man above said if shimano 8/9speed freehubs also fit 10spd and vise versa as the cassettes just get narrower to fit the freehub.

but campag is just a pain as there 10spd is totaly seperate entity to its 8/9spd systems  shame as i really campag but if i get a 9spd set up and then wanna go 10spd its gona be costly

Depends on the hub.

If it's a Dura-Ace hub that's more than a couple of years old, or an Ultegra-105 level wheelset (WH-R7800,R7801,R600,R601, R5600, R560 IIRC) then it won't.

It will with a teeny tiny spacer on the freehub before fitting cassette- this stops the big sprocket hitting the spokes....

Campag 9 and 10 are intercompatible (and 11speed). it's only 8 (and 7 ) speed cassette hubs that aren't
