You were taking the wrong measurement. GT measure C2C.

GT has always measured from the center of the BB to the center of the top tube when you run the tape up the seat tube. This one is a 19 as can be seen in the serial number as well. In the middle 90's the frame size was the first two numbers in the serial number.

I think in the UK when bikes came in distributors , dealers, must have decribed sizes in a diff way...............the GT's i had deff were 18 and 19 inch to the top of the seat tube, maybe they were in reality 16" and 17" frames ?

Not so...... because for the most part the US and UK catalogs and info in them was the same most of the years. The info that was stamped on the shipping cartons in Taiwan and So. Cal was the same too.

Sorry .............there are threads on here that describe the confusion with GT sizing in the UK............it is i think because we measure frames differently here most of the time. So when a GT was sold either new or s/hand sizes were usually quoted to top of seat tube. I think many others have experienced this over the years. Hey you may have made them (in the far east) but we had feet and inches 1st

Kona measure C2T, GT measure C2C etc. - Companies just do it differantly (Klein is a whole other story), the confusion is not isolated to the UK, just individuals not knowing what the manufacturers size measurement refers to. An LBS that sold GT's without knowing the correct way they're sized is frankly shocking.

Hey i used to run bike shop (never sold GT ).....but before i went into the business, i'm sure a lot of UK shops sold GT 's measured nearly to the top of the seat tube (wrongly as pointed out)...........i've had at least 4 and mates more........maybe i'm going senile :(
