FWIW I think this is a 94 or 95 Kilauea

i.e., it isn't a 99 Kilauea as there's no such thing, I don't think it can be a 98 Reynolds 631 Kilauea as it has down tube cable routing and its top tube isn't fat enough. Thus you might think it could be anything, but I think it shows the tapered and ovalised top and down tubes that would identify it as being made of Tangle Prestige Concept and if so it would be a 94 or 95 Kilauea - and as such, arguably as nice a bike as a 98, nicer some would say.

I have been in touch with the seller and I think he is acting in complete good faith, but IMPO there are clear visible signs that the bike isn't quite the one that he believes it to be.

The brazed-on seat collar must have been done when it was painted - they were only on factory-spec Konas until 91 and the shape of the frame suggests this is later than that.

I thought the dropouts looked funny as well, but couldn't see properly. I suppose that could suggest that it might be a 93 Kilauea, but I've never seen one and it doesn't look the one in the catalogue. Aside from the dropouts, the rest of it, in particular the tapered tubes, look like my 94 Killer.

Looked into it myself - but something just wasn't right? :?

I'm sure from the communication I had that the guys genuine.

The 631 framed Kilauea that I was aware of was much later 1997/8/9 same drop outs as my Caldera - although I'm sure I'll be put right!

mmm, something you have to be careful, what I found it strange that the seller didnt know what model or year the bike is? it's too much of a gamble on this, best to view them before buying, still he had a good price at the end.
