It is. Just thought they look that much smarter. I read they supplied them separate to the frames. Saw one on an '89 frame but of course doesn't mean they sold them then.

I could be wrong but I've always associated Merlins with head tube badges to be 98> after the company was sold to Saucony, then a year or two later they changed the logo dropping the joined together M and E for two separate letters.

Not sure, the ebay auction says it's from when they were in Cambridge Massachusetts, so earlier. But I've no idea if that's true or not, ebay's not the most reliable encyclopedia.

The ad could be true as they were there until 2000, then they were bought again and relocated to the Litespeed factory in Tennessee - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Merlin_(bicycles)
