I have 2 Merlin Fat Beat. I took 2 pictures of the old defect part and the new desing. You can see in the picture the crack on top of the part. I hope it can help.

The Moots design is so simple. Why did they feel the need to make things more complicated and heavier?

I am evaluating the feasability to install a Gates CenteTrack Carbon Belt with a Rohloff Speedhub; so it will be a good design to introduce the belt...

that is a very rad Idea with the belt drive. seeing where that one was cracked leads me to believe that these parts were not heat treated.Oh still looking for the part ! Cheers.

Hi,

I have had the same issue with a cracked Fat Beat crown. I decided to have the peice duplicated and ordered a handful since I have seen many Fat Beats and Echos with the same issue. I have them made from 6061 heat treated aluminum which the originals were not heat treated. This crown is an improvement in material while also an exact replica of the original. I also believe this crown will fit the echo as well. My price is $350 shipped world wide. I accept Paypal payment. Below are some pics. Yes, they do now exist!
