Merlin decals - how do you apply them?

Managed to find a couple of original downtube Merlin decals for my '92 Mountain.

They arrived with no instructions :?

Any advice with how I apply these - don't want to screw it up as they have taken a long time to find.

Depends on type of decal!!!!

If self adhesive, simply remove backing and carefully apply to a spotlessly clean and grease-free frame. Might also help to find centre lines of tubes and mark on frame (piece of masking tape to write on or a water soluable dry wipe pen) and line them up with centre line of decals. No expert but thats how I'd do it.

Could also be water slide transfers which are much trickier and the decals of satan!!! Get someone else to apply these wilst you go down the pub!

Gill_M our decal-meister may be able to supply more useful info, but it won't be as entertaining!!!

Damn you and your fancy know it all envelope!!!

Bet it's not a self sealer though!

This is the second time these old Merlin instructions have come in useful, last time was for Wu, glad I didn't delete the image!

be careful, these old decals are extremely fragile and stick very well to the tube. no chance to correct if placed wrong. and make sure that they are fully rubbed on before you try to remove the backing paper. if a part of the decal still adheres to the backing paper it will tear apart.

but check first if they are still sticky as they tend to dry out over the years.

good luck!
