then again, the rear mech cable stop and tunnel is underbracket and the top tube brazed on cable guides would suggest 80's onwards

I may have handed you the card with his details on. About the only times I managed to avoid that task was when I was actually riding in an event.
 
Its a Mercian Superlight, look on Mercian website, they still build them :)
It’s not a Superligh, looks mor like an King of Mercia. This are the lugs of the Superlight model, you can see the differenc?
