Mechanical disc brakes

But I just bought 3 disc wheels. . so I should probably get some disc brakes to run on them
No, they aren't for a tricycle

I like my red DX levers. . and their blue LX brothers.

These are suposed to be good:

Look at the sellers other items if you only want the one. They also do a set with a 203mm front disc.

They also go by the name Gusset Chute and IRD something or other. They are the only dual acting cable disc (both pads move) and are arguably as good as BB7's, apparently!!!

I can see the point if your using drops or haven't got a mount on the rear so want matching levers otherwise hydraulics are far superior.

Reviews aside, I would presume decent hydraulics to be better (having read reviews of Hayes, cantis with pads made from peanut butter could be an improvement), but some cable driven discs fare very well too..

Twin discs are only going on one bike - Wife wants a disc braked bike. Mine will be front disc only, V-brake rear.

Given the posts here (and in other RB threads) and the reviews that the cable disc brakes are getting off site, I think the BB7's or Kookas will be more than adequate for our needs.

Thanks all for chiming in 8)

BB7s are fine. I've got a bike with a BB7 front, V rear and Avid levers - the Speed Dial leverage thing on the levers means you can tweak them so both brakes feel the same, which is nice. I've run hydro front/V rear in the past, which is fine too, but you have to be relaxed about odd brake levers ;-)

Hell no. . . odd levers would be worse than odd wheels. . . which is bad enough

Yeah totally wrong
Mismatched levers

I've used a set of these and they are excellent! About 90% as good as my £300 Hope Tech X2 hydras ... and yes, both pads move!

F-A-R better than my Deore cable ones and better than my mate's Tektro hydras. I had 180F / 160R.
