I switched all my modern bikes from hydraulic discs to BB7s a few years ago, mostly for the "trailside repairability" of a cable rather than a hydraulic system during big rides in the rockies.

The guys I was guiding rides with then all followed suit. Guests were consistently surprised by how powerful our brakes were compared to their various hydraulic set ups.

In summary, BB7s will not disappoint. I run mine with XTR levers, others prefer the "feel" of Avid levers.
