Measuring tube diameters

What's the best way of measuring external tube diameters?

Want an accurate way of quickly measuring tubing on frames....any advice, tools people use etc...??

vernier calipers or dividers and ruler

Quick search for ones with a digital readout- mechanical ones be cheaper!
I'd try first at yer local hardware or even model shop- I got mine from a model train place years ago............

saw a digital one of these recently in the most unlikely place, i thinkit was the Woolworths Xmas catalogue; pretty sure it was super cheap too.

Ok, so it's not going to be a piece of pro kit, but will probably do the job most of us would want it for.

Mechanical are the way to go if you do not use them regularly as the battery always seems to die when you want to read an accurate figure on a digital gauge.

I got my digital ones from Aldi pretty cheap (£10?) , they seem to have them in now and again.
