Measuring steerer length?

Having a major brain fade tonight.

Measured the head tube at 6 inches with no headset installed.

How long would the steerer need to be on the forks? Im not sure on how these are measured?

Running an non threaded or threaded headset....?

Never had to buy forks seperatly before :?

150mm+38mm[average stack height it seems]+ stem @ say 45mm then any spacers you want.
That would be for Ahead,not sure as im not that used to threaded steerers :?

I also have a long headtube at about 150mm+ a Ti CK at about 38mm.
I got a new fork with its 260mm steerer and with about 60mm of spacers im using the whole steerer uncut.About 15mm of steerer sticks up above the top of the stem,i have some more spacers over that and top cap in place.

I'll do a pic later to show it doesnt look either too bad or too dangerous :?

Threaded
= Headtube + headset height
(~ = headtube + 3

Threadless
= steerer tube + headset + stem height - a few mm
(~ = headtube + 70)
