After a set of mavic wheels for a build
26"
Rim brake only

I know there's a few variants, but along the lines of crossmax, crossride, crosslink, crossroc etc

Thanks

Most were black weren't they? I know disc versions came in both.

They're going on a 95 pine mountain, so either colour will be fine 👍

I have a set of silver ones, can't recall the model off the top of my head but not cross ride. They are rim brake and iirc have disc hubs which is unusual.

CrossRide and CrossMax came in silver(bare aluminium). The rims i have are 24h for infos. There is a whole bunch of different drillings amongst the variants and the early disc wheels used the same rim brake rims. Those are good to get, if the rim hasn't been used , to build a non disc wheel with or without the Mavic hubs.

Bump... Still looking

Will open up for any other nice rim brake wheels, bontrager, Ritchey, or xt hubbed

The Crossrides were entry level. They didn't have the same alloy for the rims as higher tier otpions. AFAIK they all had rim brake. Some were UB (Universal Brake) and had disc hubs too. They did come in Silver. Earlier one made in Romania had brass eyelets and 24 bladed spokes. The Chinese rims had extra metal around the spoke holes and smaller drillings due to that. No idea which is "better". Mavic freewheels have an HG11 (11 speed Shimano road spline). Wider than the HG MTB hcassettes. Spacer needed for HG cassettes.
Prestacyle makes some nice lightweight, and wide range cassettes for HG11. Every now and then they can be found discounted. I think Universal Cyles has a couple 11-40 11s left in stock.
