IMHO I think M737 & 739 were some of the best hubs Shimano ever made in fact Ive got the entire remaining global stock of 37's & 39's tucked up safe in my man cave

All except the ones I have :D

They are indeed a lovely set of hubs. Is that a definate that a 9 speed cassette won't fit?

Well I'll tell you what Ive done, I opened up my spares vault took off the twenty layers of bubble wrap of a M737 hub AND a M750 cassette dug out my Park cassette tool ..................................... guess what it fits on BUT a tinny little niggle, has the lock ring taken enough thread. It feels tight enough but I ain't gonna strip my threads to find out.

Tell you what because Im such a nice guy I'll dig out a M750 hub and TRY and compare how much thread I get on that combo.

.

Right! I just fitted the M750 cassette to the M750 hub, and to me it feels like the same amount of thread to play with. Two bits of other useless information, 1. Both free hubs (M737 & M750) bodies are 35mm long according to Stanley (retractable tapes). 2. Ive been totally oblivious to the fact that Ive been happily running a cheap 8 speed cassette on that M750 hub

Now can I get back to my (cold) coffee please
