Yeah do it, it's only paint, it can be removed, and like you say the current paint is not original anyway.
What about some chrome silver decals? Or even better some gold decals? (think JPS Grand Prix car )

I'm going for it.

All black build and get some use out of the bike.

I can always get it more original at a future date.

Sorry to upset the purists but at least it will get used and abused as intended instead of rotting away in someones garden.

Looks really nice, complete 'mare to keep clean though.

Dr S did a rather good job with Black on Black on his Wicked ,work checking it out, if you want to go stealth , black hubs ,skewers always looks good
