evening,
bought a 1992 trek 8000 last year for purely nostalgic reasons. I'm looking to restore it to as near original as possible and have patiently collected what's required thus far but am still missing a few bits:
Need (in the loosest sense of the word) to have:
- True temper alloy (E9) from recollection handlebar, prefer uncut as I know the trend was for narrow bars back then.
- Tange big forks, prefer in lunar but that is an ambitious ask...
- deore dx front QR skewer
Like to have:
- set of singletrack comp rims on dx hubs (got the right rims on lx hubs although they are a bit shinier than my original ones, maybe an earlier vintage)
- a deore dx headset 1 1/8 threaded (this wasn't the original headset although chances of a seiki are remote)
- black deore dx low profile cantilevers (I have silver lx ones)
Having sourced a matrix stem I'd like the big forks to restore the bike to original, however soon after purchase I did upgrade to rock shox mag 21s, control tech ahead stem and dia compe aheadset, so I'd consider buying these. at the moment the bike has trek ds2 forks on, which I'm not keen on.
having googled this I have found someone on here a couple of years ago who broke a fairly complete one for parts...gutted!

if anyone can help I'd appreciate it.
many thanks
