Matrix Mt Aero rims

Anybody used / using these. Just wondered if they stand up to much abuse.

Got some and would like to get 'em built up but christ they are light and very narrow. Even narrower than Mt Titans.

Any info gratefully received

Are these circa 1990? Sound like rims I had, Dark Grey, road narrow with a bullet/V-ish profile, no eyelets.

If so I had one turn into a lovely apple shape when I hit a small rock at speed, rim failed (at the join I IIRC) but luckily stayed true long enough for me to stop in long grass.

I had some on my klein Attitude. These rims, as the Mt Titan, were made buy Trek. Matrix was the component brand of Trek. These rims was quite the lighter weight (around 360gr) but not very stiff and not very strong.

and a bugger to get tyres on and off - think MA40 and then some! Doesn't detract from the fact that they look cool though!

I had these B.I.T.D as they came stock on my Trek 8700, I wore through the sidewalls in about 7 months and they were replaced under warranty by Trek for the much heavier trek branded rims.
