Me again.

I've raided the archives but for the life of me I cant find any info on the actual part numbers for the different spring types and their ratings.

I have a couple of 96-98(?) era Z2s but ive been offered part #850660 which are stated as 85mm/1999 on the packet.

Are these 85mm springs definitely for a later+longer travel Z2, or are they a straight fit on the earlier models to (with 65/70mm travel)?

Its the xtra-firm spring that i'm after.

Re:

I already posted these to you on your FB thread but here you go!

I'll just barf all my Marz info on here for future generations as well.

The 65mm spring part #'s are compatible with the earlier original Z2 forks.

Oil Level with springs removed & carts compressed
Check that the oil level
is 50 mm/1.96 in. from the top of the stanchion
tube, in both the legs. Always compress the stanchion
tube completely to the bottom of its stroke
when making measurements.

Torque specs if you want em. Top caps are 12NM
Thread diameter Nm lb ft
M4 4Nm 2.9 lb ft
M5 9Nm 6.6 lb ft
M6 11Nm 7.5 lb ft

But the part number that the chap on FB offered would therefore not be compatible? (850660)

So I should look for part numbers starting 514?

Yes if you have a 65mm travel Z2 then you'll need the 514 part number unless you want to cut down his springs. If you cut his springs to 150mm they might work. I assume the inner and outer diameter are the same. Length would be the issue as the damper in the 65mm fork would most likely be to short to handle the extra 15mm of spring. The free length is the issue you'll be running into, that's the length of the spring not compressed in the chart above.

If you want to get the measurements from the other set of springs I can confirm they match up width wise with the stock ones I have laying around. I'd assume they would be the same considering everything else is similar. Or you could swap carts and top caps from a longer travel Z2 and then it would be ok to use those longer springs.

Top man, thanks for getting back. I had wondered about cutting a pair shorter as I can't imagine they are different diameters. Perhaps would affect the progression ramping but not by much.
