Marin team issue 1993

Hi There,

Can I ask what makes you think this is a 1994? I too have a team issue (1993 or 1994) with the same fork (released in 1993) and don't have much color from original back, apart from this bolt ... Unsure how to rebuild, 1993 or 1994.

Yours is beautiful by the way.

The decals partly have the wrong design (font types), the top tube decals are too small, they have the incorrect original color (lilac instead of plum) AND theyre put out of original position .... bummer!

Let me guess, theyre from dnfive? :-D No, he at least (sometimes) uses the correct color.

Dnfive offer the correct sizes & colours all you have to do is place the correct order.

Sorry mate ... I have ordered from DnFive about 15 times in my life already (between 2020 and 2022).

Many (!) decals of him are simply wrong and have weird sizes noone knows where they come from. I assume they were partly "guessed" just by looking at pictures.

I remember when I was restoring my first 1993 Team Issue and I was in constant contact with Ian himself. His top tube font was so incorrect, his down tube main logo size was wrong and I even mneasured all that for him, giving him the correct sizes. He wouldnt bother.

Nowadays, I highly avoid ordering anything from him! Same with GIL - partly sloppy, partly very incorrect (sizes and fonts).

Thanks to that it all started my small business of making all my own decals.

Cheers!

Ahh so what you're saying is they GIL & Dnfive are direct competition...... so I can take these comments a totally unbiased :)

Well, I thought you would be intelligent enough to at least understand where I (literally) was coming from - and you have to put my comment into a certain timeline and perspective!

I wrote my comment from the shoes and the situation I was walking in back then in about early 2021, when I was NOT making any decals myself. And Dnfive was shaite!

What or how they work today - I dont know. And I dont really bother since I have my own now.

But obviously you missed the point completely and made some bs argument out of it to come after me now.

The very reason I even started making ANY decals myself was the disappointment with the others in the past (!) when I was a customer only (!) myself! And not a vendor. Hence, your whole argument with biased, competitor bla bla bla doesnt even make sense at all.

Which leads us to the answer to your stupid question: „basically no! because back then, when I came to my conclusions and got my experieces with them, nobody was competitor to noone! Gil to Ian maybe. But noone to me“

Was too hard to understand huh?

A lot (!) of people nowadays contact me and ask me if I can make decal sets for them. In 98% the answer is no! Because its basically never worth the effort! Go and talk to Gil or Alex from (former) Velocals about it. Decal-sets normally must cost 100 euros upwards if you consider all the work and effort that go inside them. Especially if you sell them 4 times a year! ...I only do sets I need myself! And which decal set sells 41 times per year? None, believe me!

So, right on Gil and Ian! All the best for them and their stuff.

You however kinda completely missed the point behind all that.
