Marin Team FRS

Hello Ringo, I'm a newbie and I'm the one who out bid you (sorry!) My god was it a scramble on bidding but I now own the bike I cherished so much when I was 13. Forget girls it was all about this bike back then!

I have been on this forum a lot of late having recently got back into MTBing. Got a bit too mouse click happy recently and this is my last purchase probably for about 10 years! But yep me a newbie got this and I'm firmly going to be a member of the forum, you seem like a good bunch.

I apologise in advance as I'll have a few questions on the FRS.

Is it a Team FRS 93, thought it was just the FRS. Steel though isn't it, not alu - scared of cracking, Bikes arriving tomorrow, being driven over by the old owner, so that I can inspect it personally.

Can't quite believe I own it.

Bye for now. :D :D :D :D

The Team was steel, if it shares the same materials as the hard tail I think its Tange prestige.

Just reading the limited description, I have no idea how he managed to spend £400 on a wheel set with STX rc hubs, wouldn't pay too much credence to that claim

Nice bike though, unlike the aluminium ones it should be fairly robust (although the alu marin frs's I believe were stronger than the answer manitou counterparts.)

No mate, well done - glad it's gone to someone who will likely be active on the forum... I wasn't in right at the end but watched the bidding fly in the last minute!

If I had to put a year on it, I'd probably go 94, but I could be a year out! Lovely bike and as JeRkY says probably more robust than its aluminium counterparts. Please promise to put a proper pair of tyres on it!

Glad you won it, 'er indoors would have battered me with it if I'd have been the lucky one!

Also, I was a bit older when I wanted one of these - and I can think of a few girls that may of distracted me :D :D

hehe I was thinking of putting in an offer for the tyres for my faded glory Roberts build (lots of faded red [pink] annodized parts  )

Interestingly, now I've blown the photo up to post on here, it is marked as a Pine FRS (on the top tube), Pine FRS was defo Ally in 1994 and Team was defo steel in 94. This is definitely Tange double butted Chromo though.

Group was pretty much XT and claimed weight was 12.3Kg's - I had a 94 IFT and the catalogue weight was pretty accurate.

Anyway enjoy it and post plenty of photo's if you do anything to it!
