My very old but much beloved Pine Mountain was robbed from my back garden a fortnight ago. I'd had it since new and whilst it was a bit tatty it was a great bike.
I'm considering getting a brand new hybrid bike through the cycle to work scheme but having stumbled upon this site I'm now wondering whether I should buy something similar to the Marin and do it up. What are your thoughts?
I'd be after a non-suspension frame as much of the use will be on road and it would need to be of the same or better quality as the Marin.
Your recommendations on sourcing parts, re-doing paint jobs - particularly the Marin scuff proof pint - and decals etc would also be much appreciated.
I may also consider a 'ready done' retro bike if anyone has one for sale that you think fits the bill?
Look forward to hearing your advice.
PS. In case anyone comes across it the Marin had slicks, Ritchey Logic brakes and a pair of bar ends, these are the only things I can think of that would identify it as sadly I don't have a record of the frame number.
