Hi, just picked this up from another member (thanks "theboy") who gave me it for free and it needs a bit of work.
I have stripped the forks and sanded the frame back ready for a respray, but i am wondering where i will get matt grey and flouro yellow spray cans from.
Anyone any ideas or do you know of the closest car colours i can use?
I am assuming its a Palisades any ideas?

Halfords still do fluorescent yellow rattle cans.

A local bodywork supplies place will be able to mix you a can too, should be about £11-£13 for 500ml.

You'll need clear coat over that too. Also a fluro finish must be applied pretty evenly as it's not very forgiving.

After you've zinc primered, bought two colours and a clear for the forks you might have been better off powder coating.

for the effort etc required to get a good tough finish from the rattlecan method you'd be better off stripping every dot of paint off (nitromors is good at that) and taking to a powdercoater for sure.. I recently had frame and forks PC'd for £45.. they can do any level of gloss / matt you want too..

a guy restored a zolatone(?) grey eldridge grade on here a few months back with rattlecan, he named the paint used too iirc..

good luck those old marins are lovely and ride well once sorted too :D

think its a different year/finish though soz!

if you look carefully in the 4th picture on the first page of my rebuild you can see i also own a '92 muirwood identical to the OP's (in the background)

on the left hand side of the 3rd picture you can see the two cans of paint i used on it (fluro yellow and matt black)

for the plastikote yellow flourescent.

is good for making new decals.

i think the matt black paint was also a plastikote or possibly from halfords.

hope this helps.

and as a side note:

there were two colour options for the 92 year
1) black forks with flouro seat/chainstays.
2) flouro forks with all black frame.

Ive been to the local car shop and got a perfect flouro match but settled for satin black for the frame. Already had primer and laquer so only cost me about a tenner. I see what you mean about flouro colours being unforgiving will have to sand back well before any more coats.
Thanks for all the advice. :D
