Marin Muirwoods, what year is it?

Retro Newbie
Hi

I am Andy and am a keen mountain biker that can normally be found riding my Santa Cruz Blur in the Surrey Hills.

I recently picked up a Marin Muirwoods to use for ahack bike i.e. school run, shops etc....

I wanted a decent retro bike rather than a cheap new bike and found this very nice example with all orginal parts except for pedals, saddle & grips (orginal stem will be fiited shortly)

But despite searching high & low I can not find what year it is.

Any ideas?

I have looked at the 1995 brochure and that shows the Muirwoods as having cantilever brakes, so as you say it would appear that my bike is 1996 onwards as it has V brakes.

The Forks are RST 381 SM Marin tuned and it has an A headset.

The frame is steel and the down tube is oval in shape!

Cheers

Andy

The chainset looks like it could be 1999 Acera or maybe 1998 or 1999 STX-RC. The rear mech looks like it's STX-RC again from 98/99.
The V-brakes also have the look of STX-RC from, you guessed it, 98 or 99.

So along with the RST forks and the 'new' style Marin logo I reckon that 1998 or 1999 would be about right.

Oh and welcome by the way. :)

I'm going for '98 as i use to sell them in a bike shop i worked in ( i was only there in '98 )
