Marin Indian Fire Trail 1993

Awwww, it's home, finally.
Morning I will post the details, and more pictures.

But, anybody got idea, this is from 1992, 1993, or 1994? It should be 1993, I think.
And how can I polish the alu frame? And what I need to do with it after, to prevent the fading?

That's a 1993 model.. and very nice too

To polish it you first need to remove the lacquer which can be a bit of a pain but is doable with paint stripper.. be careful around the decals as the stripper will remove the colour from those too. When you've done that get the autosol out and give it a good buffing, then when totally happy give it a good going over with silicone spray which will keep it looking it's best for longer or failing that a coat of wax.

Today I will make better pictures, and close-ups.
Decals are no problem, because few letters already missing, so I will make new ones from UV-proof foil.
And I plan to anodizing the handle bars, and the stem, bottle holder.
It goes to my girlfriend, so it needs to be a lice-looking one.

Thanks, sure I will, this is not the main project, but...
I tried it in the last two days...funny. Better then my alu, full XT Kettler from 1996...
Lighter, more comfortable with better tracking. Only the DX cantis are weaker, then my XTR. And easier to climb the hills, so I need to find out, what should I modify on my bike.

Hm, I know, this bike is from 1993, but what if I equip with a 739 Xt set from 1996, and a Manitou Skareb fork?
I plan to use it for an everyday bike. Of course, I keep the original stem and handlebar, maybe I will rebuild it someday...

It would be a shame to put V brakes on there bro.. My vote would be, paint the fork lowers the same colour as the stem and decals and keep it as original as possible.

Keep the cantis, i know they are week in comparison to v's and discs but, a digital dash would be weird in a ford model T, right?

Get some good pads like, ritchey, kool stop etc..may help improve braking.

MANITOU SKAREB??? no, and no. even if the frame is sus corrected, it will be for 35-45 mm tops. modern forks on a retro frame look ess, haych, eye, tee. kinda lent back and stuff, may even stress the head tube n all not being designed for them n ting. In fact letting 10 p.s.i out of front tyre is about as effective as some retro sus forks! believe me, i've had an activator

it's your bike though, looks good enough right now, just tidy round and go easy on the decals when washing it, those '93 stickers simply blow away!
