Marin Eldridge grade

Hello to one and all, yes I a retro bike newbie, being that I ride modern stuff with big bouncy forks and big disk brakes, and also trials as well, but anyway, I digress. A friend of mine has asked for some help with his Marin Eldridge grade, wants to know how much its worth and all that stuff. Its full old school deore LX, down to the brake levers and original cartridge brake pads. The rear wheel needs a rebuild, but the rim is straight, just a few snapped spokes after a crash. The freehub feels like it may need replacing though, it says m563 on the body, with parralax as well. Any help and thoughts would be greatly appreciated

Anyhow, to be fair, the value of bikes is rather subjective. you can get lucky and pay pit'ence or pay through the nose for the same thing, depends on how badly somebody wants a certain thing.

Of course though you do get a market forced average on most things.

Meanwhile......

This is a 1994 model and all looks in good, original comdition to me. Can't see anything on it that doesn't look factory. It should have Ritchey Rock rims but can't see if it has them in the pics.
I would suggest giving it a good old clean up, get the spokes fixed, stick a chain on it and take that awful pump off of it.

At the moment it looks original but with no chain and flat tyres it looks uncared for. Therefore, as a buyer I would be concerned for the state of the bearings, cables and seat post.

Once all done I would suggest you would get £170 for it maybe a little more on a good day. As it stands you will likely get just £90 to £110

Thanks for your help. Yes it does have the original ritchey rims, he says he's not changed anything thing on it from the day he bought it. The chain is there, its in the saddlebag. I'm going to pick it up later this week on sort the back wheel, and the chain as well as tidy it up and give it a clean. I'll get some more photos banged up once its clean and tidy. One thing I will say I can't believe how light it is compared to my modern mtb. It's amazingly light, bet the ride feels epic because of the tange tubing
