MARANTZ amp troubles..........

So,LGF,the buttons that change the display etc. on my marantz amp (sr3 have stopped working :x the amp still functions perfectly with the remote,but the pretty lights wont change etc......

Bought this new for many many hundreds of pounds over a decade ago,and I will not throw it out because the sound quality,to me,is better than a lot of modern equivalents

So what do you think....dry joint somwhere :?:

It happened to the cd player in my jag a couple of years ago as well............dry joint in the switch solder apparently....

Any ideas :?:

prob just needs pulling apart and cleaning with switch cleaner.

There will be ribbon cables too that may have corrosion on the ends.

I will have a look at the weekend then.....does it have any of them little things in there that store oodles of leccy......dont want to be blown to lincolnshire when I shove a screwdriver in it

Oh yeah....should I unplug it first

one other thing.the buttons that dont currently work are the little micro switch ones next to the display.....not the actual manual ones that go in and out....

If I just pull the lid off and give it a spray around the display will that do.....

it would still need stripping to get access to the buttons -

unless it has sentimental value, I would'nt lavish too much on it as there are quite a few models like this in fully working condition that can be had for less than the cost of a quote.

Trouble is,I quite like this one.....had it years you see.....

I will have a go and see if it can be made worse......

Why is it not Varnished/Waxed? All scratched too..

It is not a desk it is an eighteenth century harpsichord with no giblets,so I popped my newer musical equipment inside it,anyway will strip it out at the weekend and have a go at mending it should be fun :roll:
