Manx End To End

How did you and your mates get on? You were damn lucky with the weather - I got caught out up on the tops in a sizeable downpour on Saturday evening and Monday was just a washout.

I'll have look to see if I have any photos of those numbers - you were in good company, walking the first serious climb up onto the moorland after Ballaugh. I only saw two riders (Julian Corlett and Kale Hawkins) ride that - it even got the better of Nick Craig.

Came in around the 5.20 mark, I was hoping for something nearer 5 hours but I'm happy enough with that, we were about the last ones over the start line as we were determined to ride at our own pace (and our bikes were around the last off the trucks) so we had to pass a lot of folk.

Pleased with the amount I did manage to ride, certainly I was on 2 wheels all the way through the boggy bits. Some of the downhill sections were great fun too.

The final climb to the finish was just evil!

I've had a look through my photos and I unfortunately don't seem to have any of you or your mates - typical

However, here's alink to manxphotosonline and they have lots from several locations so you should find something there.

I've found you all in the results, BTW - well done to you all, you had a long, tough ride because the conditions were far from favourable, with a stiff head-wind all the way from the Point of Ayre to Ballaugh.

One of the stars of the day (in my opinion) was my friend and fellow singlespeed rider Martin Bonser (Bonzo) - I'm disappointed for him that he didn't get under four hours (4:01) but considering what a disadvantage he was under on the road section it's an excellent result.

I should have just MTFU and done the same

Was nice weather this year as i actually got sun burnt on my arms  didn't realise until i had a shower aswell. If you started at the very back then you would have overtook me as took me 6 hours 13mins and 45.5 seconds to complete.

Was a fun day though and i even went to villa to get my finishers certificate as only cost £1

Me on my Raleigh RSP 250

hope you enjoyed the sunny (at times) Isle of Man oh and if you go to http://www.manxmtb.org/forum/index.php?f=14&sid=4c3de9963ca2b068708e503073f37580&rb_v=viewforum there are more links to photos there.

I could be persuaded to do this again next year, depending on the date and whether I'm on the Island or not.
We could enter a Retrobike team 8) - I'd have to ride my '88 Explosif in that case, of course. It knows its way - it's done it before.......

f1fan111, I started pretty much next to you I think, recognise both beard and bike! :D

I'll take a look at that link, cheers. On Monday I decided that it was just too far to travel for a ride and that I'd not do it again, however last night we were discussing our possible 2011 entries.... ;)

I was wondering whether I should have taken the P7 though the Superlight lapped the whole thing up! Didn't make it to the villa, ended up semi-stranded at the end due to there being no space on the bus and then went to the pub... :)
