I'm after a little help/confirmation on the order that early manitou forks came out. This is what I think but my memory may be hazy so any confirmation/correction would be appreciated.

Manitou 1 - Original grey legs and white writing
Manitou 2 - Black legs with silver writing and purple decals
Manitou 3 - Black legs with silver writing and blue decals
Manitou 4 - Black legs with silver writing and silver decals

Is this anywhere near ?

sounds about right, except I think the 4 had blue decals too, the black and silver ones that look pretty similar are magnums- gold stancions.
And then of the 3/4 generation is the EFC, with red decals.
And the EFC DH was as per EFC, but with a 120mm spacing, through axle hub.

and then we're on to the die cast mach 5's that probably aren't quite retro enough yet. . .

there were some more:
manitou sport (black and silver) from 1991, same year as manitou 1?
manitou sport (black and silver) from 1992, same year as manitou 2.
manitou comp (black and pewter) from 1995?
manitou magnum (black and silver) from 1995?
there was a special edition manitou 4 afaik. there is a pic somewhere on mtb-news.de
there was a disc brake version of the manitou 3.

Yup, 95 I'm pretty sure. Now has anybody got a brake brace for these that is unmolested (unlike mine by it's previous owner  ).

As for the Manitou 5s, maybe it was just me but I kind of thought Manitou had been a bit left behind at that point. Besides the fact they are waaaaaaay less cool than the CNC ones...
