Yes, the old Specialized future shocks (Mag 20's) are top-out spring-less... They do clunk on topout. If they go "Clack" rather than "CLUNK" they probably need new o-rings above and below the bushings. Those rings are all that cushion the top-out.

Mag 21's don't suffer that, as Fluffy pointed out.

My FSX do clunk on topout. I didn't got the right words

I've got a first generation manitou. I swap elastomers for Pace MCU and RC7 grease and I admit that the Manitou work better with those MCU : more travel, better damping

Damping set lightly, they'll bottom a half-dozen times a ride. Set at near half-range, they rarely do, making the 55mm of travel feel all but bottomless....
